Rewatching Objectified or Amping up Design Inspiration

Rewatching Objectified or Amping up Design Inspiration
July 4, 2015 Jens

There is a documentary from Gary Hustwit I rewatch every now an then. It’s called Objectified and it’s a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them.

Though it’s about industrial design, it sparks my creative inspiration every time I watch it and it never get’s old. Even if you are not into design in any way you should give it a try. If you care about design in any way regardless of producing or just using it daily, you will totally love this movie.

It opens your heart for the immense beauty great design can deliver. And I’m not only talking about how it looks but how it feels and works. A carefully designed object never grows old. It’s one of the few things you will grab if someone would tell you that you got 20 minutes to pack before never coming back.

You can watch the full movie on the Objectified website. It’s also available on Netflix, Amazon Prime und iTunes.

For a first impression, you can watch a trailer on YouTube.

P.S: The fierce looking metal robot in the header is not from the movie, but one of the things I would pack if I only got 20 minutes to pack.

What would you grab in that situation?
